Introduction to Criminal Justice


CRM 101


This course introduces students to the history and structure of the United States criminal justice system. The core of this course is its in-depth examination of how the system historically evolved and how it is currently structured. Topics covered include the nature of crime, law, and justice; the role of the police and the challenges they face; the structure and functions of criminal courts; and the functions and effectiveness of various forms of punishment and other sanctions.
